Ziyarat Amin Allah
Imam Zayn al-‘Abidin stood at the grave of Amir al-Mu’minin, wept and said:
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا اَمِيْنَ اللهِ فِىْ اَرْضِهٖ
Peace be upon you, O trustee of God on His earth
وَحُجَّتَهٗ عَلٰى عِبَادِهٖ
and His proof over His servants.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا اَمِيْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
Peace be upon you, O Commander of the Faithful.
اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ جَاهَدْتَ فِى اللهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهٖ
I bear witness that you strove in the way of God as He deserves to be striven for,
وَعَمِلْتَ بِكِتَابِهٖ وَاتَّبَعْتَ سُنَنَ نَبِيِّهٖ
acted according to His Book and followed the ways of His Prophet,
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ حَتّٰى دَعَاكَ اللهُ اِلٰى جِوَارِهٖ
may God bless him and his family, until God called you to His nearness
فَقَبَضَكَ اِلَيْهِ بِاخْتِيَارِهٖ وَاَلْزَمَ اَعْدَآئَكَ
and took you to Himself by His choice, and established against your enemies
الْحُجَّةَ مَعَ مَا لَكَ مِنَ الْحُجَجِ الْبَالِغَةِ عَلٰى جَمِيْعِ خَلْقِهٖ
the proof, in addition to the conclusive proofs you have over all His creation.
اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاجْعَلْ نَفْسِىْ مُطْمَئِنَّةً بِقَدَرِكَ
O God, make my soul at peace with Your decree,
رَاضِيَةً بِقَضَآئِكَ مُوْلَعَةً بِذِكْرِكَ وَدُعَآئِكَ
content with Your judgement, devoted to remembering You and calling on You,
مُحِبَّةً لِصَفْوَةِ اَوْلِيَآئِكَ
loving the elect of Your friends,
مَحْبُوْبَةً فِىْ اَرْضِكَ وَسَمَآئِكَ
beloved on Your earth and in Your heaven,
صَابِرَةً عَلٰى نُزُوْلِ بَلَآئِكَ
patient when Your trials descend,
شَاكِرَةً لِفَوَاضِلِ نَعْمَآئِكَ
thankful for Your abundant favours,
ذَاكِرَةً لِسَوَابِغِ اٰلَآئِكَ
mindful of Your ample bounties,
مُشْتَاقَةً اِلىٰ فَرْحَةِ لِقَآئِكَ
longing for the joy of meeting You,
مُتَزَوِّدَةً التَّقْوٰى لِيَوْمِ جَزَائِكَ
taking piety as provision for the day of Your recompense,
مُسْتَنَّةً بِسُنَنِ اَوْلِيَآئِكَ
following the ways of Your friends,
مُفَارِقَةً لِاَخْلَاقِ اَعْدَآئِكَ
parting from the manners of Your enemies,
مَشْغُوْلَةً عَنِ الدُّنْيَا بِحَمْدِكَ وَثَنَآئِكَ
and occupied, away from the world, with praising and extolling You.
Then he placed his cheek on the grave and said:
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّ قُلُوْبَ الْمُخْبِتِيْنَ اِلَيْكَ وَالِهَةٌ
O God, the hearts of those humble before You are filled with longing for You,
وَسُبُلَ الرَّاغِبِيْنَ اِلَيْكَ شَارِعَةٌ
the paths of those who yearn for You lie open,
وَاَعْلَامَ الْقَاصِدِيْنَ اِلَيْكَ وَاضِحَةٌ
the signposts of those who head for You are clear,
وَاَفْئِدَةَ الْعَارِفِيْنَ مِنْكَ فَازِعَةٌ
the hearts of those who know You seek refuge in You,
وَاَصْوَاتَ الدَّاعِيْنَ اِلَيْكَ صَاعِدَةٌ
the voices of those who call on You rise up to You,
وَاَبْوَابَ الْاِجَابَةِ لَهُمْ مُفَتَّحَةٌ
the doors of answer are opened for them,
وَدَعْوَةَ مَنْ نَاجَاكَ مُسْتَجَابَةٌ
the prayer of whoever confides in You is answered,
وَتَوْبَةَ مَنْ اَنَابَ اِلَيْكَ مَقْبُوْلَةٌ
the repentance of whoever turns to You is accepted,
وَعَبْرَةَ مَنْ بَكٰى مِنْ خَوْفِكَ مَرْحُوْمَةٌ
the tears of whoever weeps out of fear of You are met with mercy,
وَالْاِغَاثَةَ لِمَنِ اسْتَغَاثَ بِكَ مَوْجُوْدَةٌ
help is at hand for whoever seeks Your help,
وَالْاِعَانَةَ لِمَنِ اسْتَعَانَ بِكَ مَبْذُوْلَةٌ
support is given to whoever seeks Your support,
وَعِدَاتِكَ لِعِبَادِكَ مُنْجَزَةٌ
Your promises to Your servants are fulfilled,
وَزَلَلَ مَنِ اسْتَقَالَكَ مُقَالَةٌ
the slips of whoever asks You to pardon them are pardoned,
وَاَعْمَالَ الْعَامِلِيْنَ لَدَيْكَ مَحْفُوْظَةٌ
the deeds of those who act are kept with You,
وَاَرْزَاقَكَ اِلَى الْخَلَآئِقِ مِنْ لَدُنْكَ نَازِلَةٌ
Your provisions descend from You to all creatures,
وَعَوَآئِدَ الْمَزِيْدِ اِلَيْهِمْ وَاصِلَةٌ
the gifts of increase reach them,
وَذُنُوْبَ الْمُسْتَغْفِرِيْنَ مَغْفُوْرَةٌ
the sins of those who seek forgiveness are forgiven,
وَحَوَآئِجَ خَلْقِكَ عِنْدَكَ مَقْضِيَّةٌ
the needs of Your creatures are fulfilled with You,
وَجَوَآئِزَ السَّآئِلِيْنَ عِنْدَكَ مُوَفَّرَةٌ
the rewards of those who ask are abundant with You,
وَعَوَآئِدَ الْمَزِيْدِ مُتَوَاتِرَةٌ
the gifts of increase follow one upon another,
وَمَوَائِدَ الْمُسْتَطْعِمِيْنَ مُعَدَّةٌ
the tables of those who seek food are laid,
وَمَنَاهِلَ الظِّمَآءِ مُتْرَعَةٌ
and the springs of the thirsty are brimming.
اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاسْتَجِبْ دُعَائِىْ وَاقْبَلْ ثَنَآئِىْ
O God, answer my prayer and accept my praise,
وَاجْمَعْ بَيْنِىْ وَبَيْنَ اَوْلِيَآئِىْ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلِىٍّ وَفَاطِمَةَ
and bring me together with my friends, by the right of Muhammad, ‘Ali, Fatima,
وَالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ اِنَّكَ وَلِىُّ نَعْمَآئِىْ
al-Hasan and al-Husayn; You are the master of my blessings,
وَمُنْتَهٰى مُنَاىَ وَغَايَةُ رَجَآئِىْ
the end of my wishes and the goal of my hope
فِىْ مُنْقَلَبِىْ وَمَثْوَاىَ
in my returning and my final abode.
In Kamil al-Ziyarat the ziyarah ends with these words:
اَنْتَ اِلٰهِىْ وَسَيِّدِىْ وَمَوْلَاىَ
You are my God, my Master and my Lord.
اغْفِرْ لِاَوْلِيَآئِنَا وَكُفَّ عَنَّا اَعْدَآئَنَا
Forgive our friends, restrain our enemies from us,
وَاشْغَلْهُمْ عَنْ اَذَانَا
keep them too busy to harm us,
وَاَظْهِرْ كَلِمَةَ الْحَقِّ
make the word of truth prevail
وَاجْعَلْهَا الْعُلْيَا وَاَدْحِضْ كَلِمَةَ الْبَاطِلِ
and make it supreme, and refute the word of falsehood
وَاجْعَلْهَا السُّفْلٰى اِنَّكَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ
and make it the lowest; You have power over all things.
